Industrial, commercial & architectural powder coating in Pretoria
Even film thickness, high impact resistance and strong UV stability for structural fabrications and precision components.
Why powder coating outlasts liquid paint
Conventional spray paint relies on solvents (VOCs) that evaporate as it dries. That evaporation leaves microscopic pores in the paint film, and oxygen and moisture work their way through them to start rust underneath.
Electrostatic powder coating is 100% solid and solvent-free:
- Electrostatic deposition. Fine pigmented resin particles pick up a high-voltage charge (up to 100 kV) as they leave our spray guns.
- Wrap-around attraction. The part is earthed, so the charged powder is drawn to every corner, recessed weld and blind contour for an even coat.
- Thermal cross-linking. In our curing oven at 180–200 °C the powder melts, flows into a continuous film and cross-links into a tough, flexible thermoset coat.

Powder types and where to use them
| Formulation | Mechanical properties | Weather & chemical resistance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure polyester (TGIC / TGIC-free) | Flexible, chip-resistant, holds its gloss. | Highest resistance to UV, chalking and Highveld sun. | Security gates, palisades, outdoor furniture, roof racks, facades, trailers. |
| Epoxy-polyester hybrid | Very tough, scratch-resistant, good looks. | Indoor use; not for long periods in direct sun. | Shelving, racking, electrical cabinets, machine casings, office furniture. |
| Pure epoxy | Extreme impact resistance and hardness, good dielectric properties. | Best resistance to solvents, fuels, acids and chemical immersion. | Engine-bay parts, battery trays, chemical piping, pump housings. |
| Architectural super-durable | Premium fluoropolymer or modified polyester resins. | Built for 10–20 year colour-fastness in harsh exposure. | Commercial facades, window frames, balustrading, developments. |
Sheens, textures and RAL colours
- High gloss (80–95%): mirror-smooth, for custom automotive accessories, display equipment and decorative metalwork.
- Satin and low-sheen matt (15–30%): a sleek, non-reflective look favoured by architects, interior fabricators and 4x4 builders.
- Sandtex and micro-texture: a fine sandpaper feel that resists fingerprints and hides minor scratches.
- Coarse stipple and hammer-tone: heavy texture that hides grind marks, weld seams and casting flaws on structural steel and machine frames.
- Full RAL system: over 200 standard shades, including Jet Black RAL 9005, Anthracite Grey RAL 7016, Pure White RAL 9010, Gentian Blue RAL 5010 and Signal Red RAL 3001, plus custom matches for corporate or architectural specs.
Metals we coat
- Mild and carbon steel: square tubing, channel, laser-cut plate, palisades and chassis.
- Galvanised and electro-galv: specially degreased and treated to prevent pinholing.
- Extruded and sheet aluminium: architectural frames, canopies, off-road accessories and signs.
- Cast iron and forged alloys: garden benches, vintage machinery, brake calipers and brackets.
- Stainless steel: etched and coated for colour, stealth or extra durability.
Our application standard
- Film thickness checks. Calibrated digital dry film thickness (DFT) gauges confirm a 60–90 micron coat across every surface.
- Pyrometer-monitored curing. We track true metal temperature so parts are never under-cured (brittle) or over-baked (discoloured).
- Cross-hatch adhesion testing. Adhesion is checked on test coupons to confirm the coat has bonded to the metal.
